History made. Opportunity created. Justice advanced.

On February 2, 2010, the Commonwealth’s first and only public law program was established at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. This history-making event was made possible by a $23 million donation of assets from the Southern New England School of Law as well as the support of many citizens, civic leaders, and organizers from our region, state, and nation.

This innovative collaboration will build on Southern New England's successful quarter century record of achievement by linking the law program to UMass Dartmouth's intellectual and financial resources, and creating powerful synergies with the University's expansive academic programs. The transition will likely take several weeks; however, UMass Dartmouth now considers the students, faculty and staff of the two institutions to be members of the same family -- dedicated to serving the public good through excellent and accessible higher education.
